Currey has worked in print, packaging and labels for more than three decades.

His background includes roles with established suppliers serving a range of market segments.

He started at Spicers Paper in the mid-1990s and remained there for more than 20 years. During that time, he worked across commercial printing, fibre-based packaging, flexible packaging and pressure-sensitive labels.

While leading the narrow-web segment nationally, he was involved in developing Spicers’ label materials range and building links with overseas supply partners.

Jet director Jack Malki said: “Darren brings a wealth of experience across pressure-sensitive labels and flexible packaging, along with a deep understanding of the challenges facing our customers.

“His industry knowledge, technical expertise and customer-focused approach will be a valuable addition to the team as we continue to expand our offering and support customers across Australia and New Zealand.”

Before joining Jet, he spent seven years with Innovia Films as sales director for the Asia-Pacific region. That role covered flexible packaging, label applications and unsupported BOPP film across Australia, New Zealand and other Asia-Pacific markets.

Currey said: “I’ve known Jack Malki and Jet Technologies for many years and have always found them to have a strong and reliable reputation throughout the market.

“The opportunity to join a dynamic company with a culture of doing things differently from the rest was something that really appealed to me. Jet Technologies has built a strong position across the industries it serves, and I’m excited to work with customers to identify opportunities and differentiate their offering to support long-term, sustainable growth.

“Many label printers are exploring opportunities in flexible packaging in some form, while others are just beginning that journey. Having worked extensively across both sectors, I look forward to helping customers develop solutions that support their needs today and position them for the future.”
