UFlex has been granted an Indian patent for a reclosable packaging format for large bags that combines barrier performance with a feature intended to show signs of interference.
The format is aimed at goods such as chemicals, coffee, flour, pet food, protein powders, raw materials and other industrial products.

The pack uses a thin protective layer positioned beneath the zipper.
Access to the contents is blocked until that layer is removed or torn, allowing visible signs if the pack has been opened.
It also includes a zipper with a built-in barrier structure so the bag can be closed again while helping shield the contents from moisture, gases and contaminants.
UFlex said the barrier characteristics can be adjusted to meet the protection needs of different products.
The integrated format is intended to avoid the need for extra sealing, which it said supports practical use and lower cost.
UFlex flexible packaging and new product development president Jeevaraj Gopal Pillai commented: “As products are increasingly sold in large-format packs, packaging must do much more than simply contain the product. It must protect product integrity throughout its life cycle while giving consumers confidence that the packaging is secure and has not been opened before purchase.”

Separately, at PlastIndia 2026, UFlex introduced its CeruFlex 500 high-speed gravure printing machine, developed with Italian company Gravtech.
Last year, UFlex invested more than Rs7bn (then $78.5m) to expand its packaging film manufacturing operations in Dharwad, Karnataka, according to a senior company executive cited by the Press Trust of India (PTI).
The expansion will add 54,000 metric tonnes per annum of packaging film capacity at the Dharwad plant.
