Stahl has introduced its Senoprint line of metallic coatings for packaging uses in international markets.
The products allow metallic finishes to be applied during printing, offering an alternative to foil stamping for packaging applications.

Senoprint is based on a coatings range previously sold in North America under the LustreCoat name.
The coatings can replace hot foil stamping and cold foil application in some packaging and labelling jobs, with use intended to simplify production and cut waste by avoiding a separate foiling stage.
The range is intended for premium packaging and labels and can be used on paper and board in sheetfed, screen and flexo printing, as well as narrow web applications.
It is currently offered in silver and gold, while other metallic shades can be created through overprinting.
Stahl said each metallic coating is used together with a protective topcoat developed by the company as part of the same system.
According to the company, the topcoat is designed to maintain the finish and improve resistance to abrasion, handling and environmental exposure.
The coatings are available in both UV-based and water-based versions.
Stahl said the products were developed to meet requirements in different markets and to support lower-VOC packaging formats.
It added that the coatings are designed for de-inking and recovery through standard paper recycling systems, in line with rules including the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Earlier this month, Stahl updated its Sensora range of haptic coatings for packaging materials.
Those products are meant to give packaging a tactile quality, with finishes ranging from soft and velvety to smooth, silky, rubber-like and textured.
