PolyCycle Innovation’s post-consumer recycled (PCR) high-density polyethene (HDPE) resin has passed testing and qualification for use on PackSys Global’s compression-moulding tube machinery.
The approval covers both conventional tubes and PackSys Global’s noSho format.

According to the companies, this gives tube producers and brand owners in cosmetics, personal care and oral care a verified option for addressing California’s SB 54 rules and other state Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) norms.
The resin is described as food-grade and has been qualified for use on tube formats that include more complex closure designs.
PolyCycle Innovation makes PCR resins for packaging and said its products have a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) no objection letter (NOL) certification.
The company sources through a North American supply chain and also holds GreenCircle certification. It is an activator in the US Plastics Pact.

PackSys Global was founded in 1969 and is now part of the Brückner Group.
The company supplies tube machines, full production lines and packing equipment to customers in more than 90 countries, with activities centred on cosmetics, oral care, medical technology and food and beverage.
Its noSho format uses compression moulding to form an HDPE cap and removes the tube shoulder from the design.
The qualification is notable for noSho because the format requires resin that can deliver a consistent hinge, even colour and stable batch-to-batch performance.
Manufacturers can also switch between standard cap-and-shoulder tubes and noSho on the same equipment using change parts.
PolyCycle said the material also meets FDA requirements for food-contact applications and that its sourcing model is based entirely in North America.
