Mondi has created a revised packaging approach for Stiebel Eltron’s water heater products, cutting the number of corrugated board grades used by more than 75% while keeping product protection in place.
The change applies to packaging for instantaneous water heaters and small storage units shipped by Stiebel Eltron to markets worldwide.

Approximately 150 corrugated packaging versions were used previously.
That level of variation added complexity to procurement, manufacturing and logistics, and made the range more difficult to manage consistently.
The packaging revision took place alongside a redesign of the boxes.
Mondi said it started with a detailed review of the existing corrugated packaging formats and chose the brown corrugated board grade it considered most suitable for each product group.
White digital printing was then added to support the new packaging design.
Mondi said this makes it possible to produce different pack designs and print quantities without extra set-up, while also allowing several variants to be combined in a single production run.
The printing method delivers accurate reproduction of small details, including small text, QR codes and barcodes, on brown corrugated board, in line with the requirements of the updated packaging design.

Last month, FIXIT GRUPPE streamlined its paper bag packaging across European markets via a project with Mondi, a move that reduced related greenhouse gas emissions by 135 tonnes of CO₂ compared to the prior year.
