The design combines a paper-like surface with colourful graphics and a format intended for gifting.
Kneipp packaging engineer Jessica Raich said: “With this limited edition, we wanted to show that sustainability, innovation and premium wellness can go hand in hand.”
Kneipp will use the limited-edition launch to examine the packaging’s performance during handling and use.
The company will also assess pack quality and consumer response, while testing whether renewable, fibre-based packaging can be used for wellness products.
Sonoco Consumer Packaging EMEA vice president and general manager Francesco Giannolo said: “By combining a paper-based body, paper end and paper plug-in lid with the GreenCan architecture, we were still able to deliver a solution that maintains product integrity while significantly reducing reliance on fossil-fuel-based materials.
“At Sonoco, we are proud to support brands like Kneipp that are helping redefine what sustainable packaging can look like in categories traditionally dominated by plastic. This project shows that paper-based packaging can now be successfully applied to highly demanding personal care applications while maintaining the premium consumer experience brands want to deliver.”
Notably, in May, Sonoco launched its CapOnCan resealable metal cans and microwaveable metal bowls, as mono-material substitutes for glass and plastic, at the interpack 2026 trade fair held in Düsseldorf.
