US-based company Cortec has introduced a new high-gloss EcoShield Super Barrier Paper and Linerboard with a water-based moisture barrier coating.
The new product has been developed as an environment-friendly replacement to unrecyclable poly-coated and waxed papers.

The product is used as a packaging option for raw materials and other finished goods that are vulnerable to rust and corrosion. It can also be used for wrapping oily or greasy parts, lining wood pallets or corrugated boxes, or to keep work surfaces clean with a disposable cover.
During testing, the barrier paper was analysed against a comparable polyethylene-coated paper and a commercial waxed paper according to ASTM E-96 at 73°F (23°C) and 50% relative humidity.
The EcoShield Super Barrier Paper and Linerboard performed better, exhibiting a water vapour transfer rate of 0.32g/h-0.37g/h on a square meter of paper, while the poly-coated paper allowed a transfer rate of 0.47g/h-0.71g/h.
Within the test, the shiny side of EcoShield Super Barrier Paper and Linerboard was also noted to repel to repel liquid water as its TAPPI T-441 Cobb Water Absorption rate is less than 0.3g/m² of water in two minutes.

It also acts as a barrier against leaking of oil and grease out of a package, keeping the packaged products lubricated.
EcoShield Super Barrier Paper and Linerboard is available in multiple sizes and offered as sheets or perforated rolls, according to the requirement of the user.
