US-based sustainable packaging machines firm Polypack has acquired France-based end-of-line packaging manufacturer Polypack Sarl for an undisclosed amount.
Although both the companies share similar names, they have been operating as separate entities.

The US-based Polypack previously sold its products in French markets under the Franpack moniker banner.
Headquartered in Allonnes, Sarthe, Franpack Sarl received the rights to operate Polypack Sarl, reported Packaging World.
Franpack will operate as Polypack Europe and this new organisation will produce new equipment to cater to the European and African markets.
Polypack sales and marketing vice-president Emmanuel Cerf was quoted by Packaging World as saying: “My father Alain Cerf actually started that company, Polypack France or Polypack Sarl, in 1959 and sold it in 1984.

“They were making end-of-line packaging, including tray erectors, wrap around equipment, and shrink wrappers. But they were selling mainly to European and African markets.”
The deal also expands US-based Polypack’s portfolio with the addition of more than 3,000 machines. It will be able to operate as a single entity to serve its customers in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Cerf added: “We may do some tray machines and corrugated equipment that we don’t build here. But really, this is a gain in market share and access to the installed base, service and support needs, and repeat business afforded by Polypack Europe.”
