Finland’s UPM Raflatac is set to launch a new flexible film, Raflex PRO, for contoured and shaped containers.

Part of the company's Raflex portfolio, the new film is said to combine the features of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) into a single material.

UPM noted that PE labelling options provide flexibility for squeezable bottles, while PP offers transparency and gloss for rigid containers.

Suitable for use in home and personal care,  food and beverage applications, Raflex PRO provides chemical resistance and stability in demanding conditions, and supports good print results without using a topcoat.

Last month, UPM Raflatac made an investment to build a new coating line at its label stock factory in Wroclaw, Poland.

Production of the new line is expected to begin in early 2018.
