The plant includes polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottle production lines, which will produce a range of sparkling and still beverages.

With the new facility, the company aims to increase its production and meet demands of Qatar and the surrounding region.

The Coca-Cola Company executive vice-president Irial Finan said: “We selected Qatar because of its unique position in the region and it being one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

“The country has a 2030 Vision, which aligns with our own mission to build local, consumer-driven, customer-focused, profitable and sustainable businesses.

“The creation of this plant allows us to proudly manufacture and distribute beverages in Qatar, invest in our people and provide tangible economic benefit to the country.”

The plant will employ around 300 people in its first phase of production and distribution.

Coca-Cola currently has more than 500 sparkling and still brands and produces more than 3,800 beverages.

Last month, Coca-Cola developed a new packaging design for its Diet Coke beverages sold in Canada.

Launched as part of its ‘One of a Kind’ programme, the new limited edition range includes 500ml PET, 355ml and 237ml variants.
