SIG Combibloc’s packaging and filling technology has been chosen by South Wine Company (SWC) to pack its Odyssey brand wines.

SWC is moving from glass bottles to a 1,000ml combiblocSlimline carton pack for four of its own home-grown semi-dry wines.

It has installed SIG Combibloc’ CFA 310 filling machine to fill the combiblocSlimline carton packs that have fully printable display surfaces.

SWC deputy managing director Vyacheslav Merkulov said: "We are convinced that this packaging preserves the high quality of our wines and perfectly suits the convenience requirements of modern consumers."

SWC is switching to aseptic carton packs as they are lightweight and unbreakable. It also believes that consumers prefer quality locally grown and produced wines in practical and safe packaging at a fair price.

SIG Combibloc global product management market head Norman Gierow said: "We are observing that not only low-cost table wines, but also good standard products and quality wines, are increasingly being offered in aseptic carton packs.

Logistical and handling advantages of carton packs help wine producers and fillers develop new distribution and marketing channels.

SWC wines in aseptic carton packs will be available in the Russian market.

SIG Combibloc said its carton packs, together with the SIG Combibloc closures, are fully recyclable and are suitable for all local and national recycling and waste management options.
