Inkjet technology specialist Xaar has expanded its product range with the introduction of new Xaar 1002 GS40 for UV applications.
The new 1002 GS40 with greyscale capability (five levels) can be used for printing UV spot varnish and for applications requiring a high laydown at higher print speeds.

Using this printhead, high build, varnish and textured effects can be added to labels, packaging, graphics and wood laminate, the company said.
The printhead can also lay down extra opaque whites with a larger drop size or a finer base of whites with a smaller drop size. It employs TF Technology to allow continuous ink flow at a very high rate directly past the back of the nozzle during drop ejection, according to the company.
TF Technology will help companies printing labels or packaging to achieve trouble-free printing, and maximum printing and production uptime.
When combined with TF Technology, the Xaar 1002 GS40 can be used with a wide range of ink types and viscosities and in varying temperatures.

The Xaar 1002 GS40 can be used in combination with the Xaar 1002 GS6 printhead to print solid white base coats underneath fine halftone images or text.
Last December, Xaar launched a new range of printheads for coding and marking applications.
The piezoelectric printheads with a 17mm print swathe will be manufactured in Xaar’s factory in Huntingdon, UK.
