Jindal Films Europe will expand its metallising and extrusion capabilities at its site in Brindisi, Italy, under the company’s re-investment strategy.

The manufacturer of speciality biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films plans to deploy a 10.5m orientation line at the site by fourth quarter of 2016, which will lead to a capacity expansion of more than 50,000t a year.

A metalliser is expected to become operational in the second quarter of 2016, adding 10,000t of capacity.

Jindal Films Europe recently invested in a trigeneration plant at the Brindisi site, which facilitates heat generation, electrical power and cooling power from a single power source, reports Labelsandlabeling.com.

Jindal Films specialises in the development and production of speciality oriented polypropylene (OPP) films such as multilayer white opaque films, as well as metalised and coated films for flexible packaging, labelling and other applications. The company’s products include Bicor, Oppalyte and Metallyte films for packaging applications, and Label-Lyte film for label applications.
