US-based micro brewery Tin Man Brewing has selected Rexam’s 16oz cans to package four of its core beers.

The micro brewery has chosen aluminum cans as they block out all light and oxygen, which allows beer to retain its taste and freshness for a longer duration.

These lightweight cans can be recycled at double the rate of any other package option and can be relaunched in the retail market within 60 days.

Tin Man Brewing president Nick Davidson said: "We feel strongly that aluminum cans are the best choice for our unique craft beers, offering significant advantages for us and our consumers."

Commenting on the partnership, Rexam BCNA sector director Claude Marbach said: "Our cans are the perfect packaging for craft beers as they help attract attention on store shelves, maintain beverage integrity and deliver superior recycling, filling, distribution and retail display economics that will help the brewery continue to build its brand and business."

These beers are currently available for sale at selected retailers in Indiana and Kentucky.

Earlier this month, Danish brewer Carlsberg selected Rexam to design a new cut-out tab for its beer range. Carlsberg will implement the new tab in conjunction with its standard can design in Norway across its beer range, with plans to launch in other markets.

Produced at Rexam’s Recklinghausen and Mont plants, the tabs will be available on all 33cl and 50cl cans.
