Pratt Industries, a leading recycled paper and packaging company, is developing a new corrugated box manufacturing facility in Georgia, US. The project represents the largest single private investment in the city’s history.

Announced in September 2023, the project is being developed with an investment of more than $120m. The construction of the new plant is underway, with operations expected to commence in late 2024.

The new facility will be Pratt Industries’ 13th site in Georgia, increasing the company’s total investment in the state to more than $800m. It will generate more than 125 jobs, significantly contributing to the local economy and workforce. The facility will increase Pratt’s workforce in Georgia to more than 2,100 employees and the national footprint to 11,700 employees.

Location

The new facility is being developed in the Robbins International Industrial Park in Warner Robins within Peach County. The industrial park is a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD)-certified site spanning more than 600 acres. It is located east of Interstate 75 near major exits 144 and 146 and just 90 minutes away from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Georgia was chosen to develop the facility due to its position as a regional centre, its support for businesses and its suitable manufacturing requirements. The Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Peach County Development Authority and Georgia Power are collaborating with Pratt Industries on the project.

Pratt Industries product details

Pratt Industries is renowned for its high-quality, custom packaging solutions made from 100% recyclable materials, while its mottled white boxes are made from partially recycled material.

The company’s product range includes custom shipping boxes, subscription-style mailer boxes, pizza boxes, bubble mailers and custom kraft paper bags.

The custom shipping boxes are sturdy, corrugated, slotted containers designed to be robust and versatile, suitable for bulkier items. The boxes are available in industry-standard strength of 32 ECT [Eddy current testing] and C Flute thickness.

The pizza boxes are traditional-style and can be used for pizza, other food or flat, lightweight items.

The bubble mailers are lightweight, white kraft mailers ideal for small products, featuring a light bubble wrap interior and a self-sealing adhesive strip. The interior padding adds a layer of security and protects products during shipping.
