Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that AGCO filed the most robotics patents within the packaging industry in Q1 2023. The company filed 7 robotics-related patents in the quarter. It was followed by Toppan with 2 robotics patent filings, Bayer (2 filings), and FedEx Services (2 filings) in Q1 2023.

Patenting activity was driven by China with a 21% share of total patent filings

The largest share of robotics related patent filings in the packaging industry in Q1 2023 was in China with 21%, followed by Japan (11%) and the US (7%). The share represented by China was 0% flat growth than the 21% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
