The UK’s packaging industry registered an 18.4% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.05% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.38% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.76% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s packaging industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s packaging industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 40% in October 2022, registering a 26.32% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 35.24% share, an increase of 42.31% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.33%, registering a 72.55% decline from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.67%, down 36.36% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 1.79% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s packaging industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Body Shop International posted 28 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 15.15% over the previous month, followed by Amcor with 8 jobs and a 166.67% growth. Unilever with 7 IT jobs and Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 7 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 16.67% growth, respectively, while Reckitt Benckiser Group recorded a flat growth with 7 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 79.05%, down by 23.15% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with an 11.43% share, registered a decline of 52% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.52% share, down 54.55% over September 2022.
