Management Occupations drive digitalization-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 13%, emerged as the top digitalization-related job roles within the packaging industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 9% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 17% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent digitalization roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in packaging industry accounted for 75% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Avery Dennison, Klabin, Sealed Air, DS Smith, and Korber. Together they accounted for a combined share of 75% of all digitalization-related new jobs in the packaging industry.

Avery Dennison posted 786 digitalization-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Klabin 421 jobs, Sealed Air 392 jobs, DS Smith 353 jobs, and Korber 92 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 38.53% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of digitalization-related new job postings in the packaging industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 38.53% followed by Brazil (16.63%) and the UK (5.09%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points higher than the 38.21% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
