Ahlstrom has introduced Acti-V RRF Natural, a paper release liner designed for double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes that is recyclable with standard paper streams.
The product has passed the CEPI Recyclability Test Method, qualifying it as “Recyclable with Paper” under European standards.

The new liner is produced using unbleached and recycled fibres and remains recyclable even with silicone coatings on both sides.
Traditionally, such silicone-coated liners have been classified as not recyclable due to their hydrophobic nature and high rejection rates in recycling tests.
The new formulation enables the liner to be repulped, opening possibilities for its use in new pulp and paper products after its initial application.
According to Ahlstrom, the product maintains the necessary strength for tape manufacturing by using an unbleached fibre mix that allows for lighter weight without loss of mechanical performance.

By GlobalDataThis reduction in basis weight is reported to lower the carbon footprint of the liner, with Ahlstrom stating emissions are reduced by more than 25% compared to conventional industrial liners.
The liner contains at least 15% post-consumer recycled content and is made without dyes to facilitate fibre recovery and repulping.
Acti-V RRF Natural is intended for manufacturers and users of PSA tapes seeking options that support recycling targets while meeting performance requirements.
Ahlstrom release liners vice-president Marco Troglia said: “This innovation sets out a new benchmark for double-sided tape liners. By combining recyclability, lower impact and weight, and proven performance, we help tape producers and users meet ambitious sustainability goals without compromising quality and efficiency.”
In October 2025, Ahlstrom secured a platinum medal in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment after achieving an overall score of 86 out of 100.
