This strategic move seeks to address demand from healthcare customers in the medical, pharmaceutical, and consumer health sectors in the region.

The expansion will enable these customers to source both thermoforms and companion die-cut lids from a single location to improve product manufacturing and distribution.

The new equipment in Oshkosh is set to be operational by December this year and will be housed in the plant’s Class 7 cleanroom, adhering to the ISO 13485 quality system.

Amcor Flexibles North America Healthcare vice-president and general manager Art Castro said: “We’re excited to offer our healthcare customers a critical supply solution by scaling up our manufacturing capabilities.

“As demand grows, this strategic investment underscores Amcor’s commitment to being a true growth partner in anticipating and meeting our customers’ unique thermoforming needs.”

Amcor’s global thermoforming capabilities cater to various industries, with dedicated healthcare plants located in Sligo, Republic of Ireland, and other facilities in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Mankato, Minnesota, US.

In November last year, Amcor signed a memorandum of understanding with sustainable polyethene (PE) producer Nova Chemicals, which allows Amcor to source mechanically recycled PE resin that is incorporated in flexible packaging films.
