ALPLA and FROMM operate recycling plants for PET bottles, which supply materials for their own production facilities.

The collaboration will also allow the companies to have simplified access to markets in the respective countries.

“The requirements at our production sites complement one another very well.”

ALPLA Corporate Recycling Services head Georg Lässer said: “The requirements at our production sites complement one another very well. At ALPLA, we mainly need clear, food-grade pellets. FROMM processes coloured flakes for the strapping bands.

“The collaboration between our recycling facilities will ensure the necessary quantity and quality of materials for production for both sides.”

The ALPLA Group has PET recycling team plants in Wöllersdorf, Austria and Radomsko and Poland; with an annual capacity of around 45,000t of food-grade rPET produced from post-consumer materials.

The company produces custom-made packaging systems, bottles, closures and moulded parts at 176 sites.

FROMM Group owner Reinhard Fromm said: “The three recycling plants are integrated in various procurement markets and complement one another ideally in the procurement of raw materials.”

FROMM Plastics has a subsidiary company Texplast, which operates in Wolfen, Germany and produces PET pellets and PET flakes.

The products from Texplast are used by FROMM for its own production of strapping bands.

A portion of the products is also supplied to manufacturers of beverage bottles, thermoforming sheets and fibres.
