US-based protective solutions provider Berry Global Group has acquired blown polyethylene bags and films manufacturing firm Laddawn for an undisclosed sum.

Laddawn operates through an e-Commerce sales platform and generated more than $145m of net sales for the 12 months ending on 31 July this year.

With a workforce of 380 staff, the company has five manufacturing facilities spread across the US.

The acquisition will provide Berry access to the e-Commerce channel with proven web and mobile sales platforms for stock and custom products.

Berry supplies non-woven, flexible, and rigid products to consumer and industrial-end markets.

In the protection solutions segment, the company produces flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC), and medical films to protect devices in packaging, food wrap films for the supermarket, food service, and household markets.

Berry also supplies apertured, breathable, elastic and barrier films, and wicketed bags to the personal care industry.

In February this year, the company acquired the Clopay Plastic Products Company from an affiliate of Griffon for $475m.

Clopay is a supplier of printed breathable films and is also engaged in the development of elastic films and laminates.
