Austrian plastics packaging supplier Borealis is set to launch the BorPure RJ766MO for transparent injection moulded and thin-walled food packaging with organoleptics.

The new copolymer is a combination of Borealis’ Borstar PP polymerisation technology and Borealis Nucleation Technology (BNT), which produce a material with a molecular weight distribution (MWD) and crystalline structure.

According to Borealis, this results in fast crystallisation, with a good balance of stiffness and impact properties.

The material’s flow characteristics help achieve energy savings, the company claims.

Rainer Höfling, Borealis vice president moulding, said the material is the preferred grade for all types of food packaging, has a melt flow rate of 70 and brings energy saving advantages to containers with even the thinnest walls.
