Bottle Collective, an initiative that aims to tackle single-use plastic waste, has welcomed onboard the two global consumer health companies Sanofi and Haleon.
Launched by PA Consulting (PA) and Swedish R&D and IP company PulPac, Bottle Collective aims to industrialise a recyclable high-speed, low-cost Dry Moulded Fiber bottle process.
Sanofi and Haleon will support Bottle Collective in the feasibility study and co-development of cellulose-based technologies, which can replace virgin petroleum-based plastics for improved consumer health in product packaging.
Haleon R&D Packaging head Alex James Orchard said: “We’re aiming to create a future for consumer health product packaging which is more sustainable and more inclusive. Joining the Bottle Collective as a founding member is one of several exciting partnerships that we are forging to strengthen our sustainable packaging innovation programme.
“This includes taking on bold development challenges on alternative materials and technologies that help drive the circular model. By partnering and collaborating in new ways, we will enable Haleon and the wider industry to accelerate the adoption of new packaging solutions that are responsibly designed and fit for purpose for the next generation.”
PA and PulPac, which launched Bottle Collective in February this year, claimed to have developed the first functioning prototypes.

In November last year, PulPac secured €31m ($31.22m) in funding from a cross-industrial alliance.
