Australian renewable packaging products manufacturer Cardia Bioplastics has developed new films that eliminate handling issues of plastic bottles.
The single-use Biohybrid films are for bulk water distribution in the Australian and Canadian markets.

The company claims that the films provide benefits to suppliers, distributors, consumers and the environment across the bulk water supply chain. Biohybrid packaging films are a better solution for mining and oil and gas customers operating in remote locations where the supply chain management of traditional rigid plastic bottles is challenging and costly.
The company has identified Yukon Spring from Canada and BOS Water from Australia as two companies using the Cardia Biohybrid films technology in their water packaging.
BOS Water uses Cardia’s single-use Biohybrid bag in place of traditional polycarbonate rigid bulk water bottles to provide commercial and environmental benefits to its spring water customers. Yukon Spring has adopted Cardia Biohybrid Bag-in-Bag packaging films as they are made with less oil and deliver a lower carbon footprint compared to conventional packaging.
Cardia Bioplastics managing director Dr Frank Glatz said that Biohybrid’s bag-in-bag water packaging has been developed using the company’s resin technology.
