Israel-based corrugated board containers and packaging products manufacturer Hadera Paper’s subsidiary Carmel Frenkel has invested in an EFI Nozomi inkjet corrugated packaging press.
Acquired from Electronics for Imaging, the Nozomi C18000 single-pass, ultra-high-speed LED press will allow Carmel Frenkel to have the complete EFI ecosystem for corrugated production.
Besides the Nozomi press, the company has invested in the EFI Fiery NZ-1000 digital front end (DFE), the EFI Corrugated Packaging Suite manufacturing execution system (MES) business and production management workflow and EFI Escada corrugator control software.
With the installation of the EFI Nozomi press, Carmel Frenkel intends to deliver efficient digital high-end corrugated production solutions to its customers.
Carmel Frenkel CEO Guy Frenkel said: “We are committed to staying on the leading edge of packaging technology. That is the main reason why we went for the Nozomi press.
“We have invested considerable time and effort in evaluating the most-advanced digital corrugated technologies and, with this press, we know EFI is delivering an innovative technology that will be able to handle a variety of print jobs with faster throughput and high output quality.”
The 71-inch wide LED Nozomi press, which is expected to be installed in the fourth quarter of this year, is equipped with a single-pass, piezo grayscale inkjet writing system that delivers accurate, high-fidelity colour, including consistent reproduction on solid areas.
It is capable of operating at speeds of up to 246 linear feet per minute, or up to 10,000 35×35-inch boards per hour two-up.
Access to EFI’s digital printing technologies will enable Carmel Frenkel to reduce turnaround times for new projects and produce smaller quantities or versions of jobs.
The press also features the advanced EFI Fiery NZ-1000 DFE print server and production system, which offers improved performance, colour quality, advanced production tools, and efficient job management.
Furthermore, EFI Fiery NZ-1000 will facilitate the production of versioned/multi-SKU work or even personalised packaging at full speed.
Meanwhile, the installation of the Corrugated Packaging Suite MES workflow will enable plant-wide management and integration of digital production for a full, end-to-end business and production framework.
