Castrol India, a lubricant manufacturer, has announced the enhancement of its sustainability efforts by incorporating 50% recycled plastic into its high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles.

This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to utilise approximately 2,600 tonnes of recycled plastic annually in its packaging by the end of the year.

The move is also in line with Castrol’s global PATH360 strategy, aiming to halve its plastic footprint by 2030.

Castrol India previously launched 100% recycled bottles, excluding caps, for its POWER1 range in 2022 and incorporated 30% recycled content across all its bottle packaging last year.

Castrol India managing director Sandeep Sangwan said: “We are proud to announce this milestone in our journey towards more sustainable packaging. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who have overcome challenges to develop packaging solutions that meet our high standards for quality and aesthetics.”

Beyond packaging innovations, Castrol India says it is also focused on maintaining safe and sustainable manufacturing processes.
