Netherlands’ Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Grootegast has designed a new stand-up pouch to increase the shelf life of Bayer’s Minigustos snack vegetables.
The pouches were developed using a modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) solution, which combines specially selected materials and micro-perforation to help products breathe and remain fresh for longer periods.

The new Clondalkin packaging also extends the shelf life of fruit, ensuring a crunchy taste up to 12 days after harvesting.
Bayer cucumbers marketing specialist Anne Jancic said: “There is an increasing demand for snack vegetables and the Minigustos snack cucumber is the result of years of research and cultivation by skilled breeders and growers.
“But not only do we need confidence in the product itself but in the packaging. Key for us is to deliver a high quality product.”
Bayer seeks to provide its Minigustos vegetables in the Northern Europe, Canada and the US.

Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Grootegast sales manager Martina Fidder said: “Our stand-up pouches, which offer sustainable, user-friendly solutions as well as food protection and extended shelf life properties, are becoming more and more popular.”
The company currently provides high-barrier lidding film for plastic cups or trays, multi-layer laminates with aluminium, and microwaveable packaging for frozen snacks, stand-up pouches and printed bags.
