It aims to provide its customers with the knowledge and benefit of using its latest equipment on-site, and intends to further expand its full line of equipment.

The first phase of the academy will provide training sessions on the CMB 5500 Canmaker, a combination of the CMB 5000 Bodymaker and the CMB 550 Trimmer, along with a Ferrum F-708 Seamer and an Angelus 120L. The second phase will focus on the addition of training classrooms and enhancing capacity.

Totally, three courses will be offered that include a three-day theoretical course focusing on understanding the double seaming process, a five-day practical course focusing on the target setting of the seamer to achieve an effective double seam, and a five-to-ten day asset care maintenance course.

After finishing the course, both seamers will be fully operational and trainees can run the equipment to evaluate the effectiveness of the double seam’s external and internal parameters.

CMB Engineering general manager Andrew Truelove said that the academy will help students in maintaining and operating the canmaking and seaming equipment.

"For seaming, as well as being able to explore the intricacies of the world of the double seam, focus will be placed on the repair and maintenance of the seamer itself," Truelove added.

"This will entail the removal, overhaul and then replacement of the various sub-assemblies that constitute a fully-operational Double Seamer."
