Packaging and coatings solutions supplier Coveris is continuing its geographic expansion in Central and South America with the acquisition of shrink sleeve and adhesive label technologies specialist Supraplast for an undisclosed amount.

Based in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Supraplast offers a wide range of products, including shrink sleeves, self-adhesive labels, safety seals, PVC and PET shrink films.

Supraplast’s customer base includes clients from the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care and agriculture markets.

In addition, Coveris Holding and Coveris Flexibles US entered a management services agreement with Supraplast, a move that will allow Coveris to expand and grow its presence in the South American region.

The company claims to use sustainable raw materials such as customer-engineered films containing post-consumer resin content or unique film structures with eco-friendly resins or shipping sacks constructed from Sustainable Forestry Initiative certified papers.

It uses proprietary film structures, custom coatings or unique perforation patterns on fresh food packaging to extend the shelf life.

Coveris stated on its website it employs new processes and tools to eliminate waste from the entire value stream.

The company currently has operations in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Egypt, Finland, France, Guatemala, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, the UK and the US.
