The fresh food sector demands packaging that not only maintains product quality but also offers ease of use. Coveris’ MonoFlexBP tray addresses these requirements with an innovative resealing system that allows consumers to close the tray multiple times.

This feature is instrumental in reducing food waste and enhancing the user experience.

Coveris has also developed thermoformable bottom films that deliver improved product protection and contribute to the optimal shelf life of chilled products.

For items that necessitate high oxygen barriers, Coveris presents a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyamide (PA)-free lidding film that complements the MonoFlexBP trays.

This lid, which can be sealed, peeled, and resealed on polypropylene trays, incorporates a high gas barrier crucial for preserving the freshness of perishable goods.

Coveris BU flexibles business development director Katja Killian said: “We are extremely pleased to launch MonoFlexBP tray for refrigerated goods. With this sustainable alternative to non-recyclable materials, Coveris continues to lead the way in circular packaging innovation, offering high-performance solutions that address both environmental impact and consumer demand.”

The MonoFlexBP tray is developed as a fully recyclable monomaterial solution as part of the company’s No Waste mission.

These trays are designed to be compatible with current packaging machinery, allowing for a smooth transition for manufacturers. It is suitable for processed meats, sausages, dairy, cheese and other chilled or refrigerated items.

The trays can be printed using gravure or flexographic methods to enhance visual appeal and offer branding versatility, and are available with a matt or paper-effect lacquer finish.

In August 2025, Coveris launched a new monomaterial packaging solution specifically designed for tortilla wraps, aligning with the company’s No Waste mission.
