The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has reached an agreement to acquire the consumer health business of Merck KGaA for a cash consideration of €3.4bn ($4.21bn).

The healthcare business unit of Merck includes vitamin brands such as Femibion, Neurobion, and Nasivin. All the employees of Merck’s unit will be moved to P&G, following the transaction.

The acquisition will enable P&G to expand its portfolio of consumer healthcare products.

Merck plans to use the proceeds from the transaction to clear its debts and strengthen all its three business segments.

Based in the US, P&G is a provider of consumer packaged goods, while Merck is a German science and technology company.

Yazoo Brewing has collaborated with Ardagh Group to design its commemorative beer bottle to be presented at the Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) 2018, which will begin on 30 April.

The 12oz beer bottle features the Yazoo logo on its neck, embossed with the words Ardagh Glass on its shoulder.

The bottle will house Yazoo Brewing’s core beer brands namely Pale Ale, Dos Perros, Hefeweizen, Sly Rye Porter, Hopry Double IPA and Sue. It will also feature CBC 2018 decoration on the bottom.

Ardagh Group has been selected to design a sustainable packaging solution for Cider Lubelski, a cider brand of Polish beverage company AMBRA.

The sustainable glass packaging solution is a bottle, which will be used for the Cider variants namely Cider Lubelski Classic, Cider Lubelski Unfiltered, Cider Lubelski Antonówka Unfiltered and Cider Lubelski Honey.

The glass bottle features an embossing design with the words Cydr Lubelsk around its neck and shoulder.

The bottle was developed by Ardagh in collaboration with Spiritus Movens Design Studio.

Weener Plastics Group has entered an agreement to acquire Proenfar from Colombian private equity firm Altra Investments for an undisclosed sum.

Based in the Netherlands, the acquirer company designs and develops of value-added cups and closures for the personal care and home care markets, while Proenfar is a Colombian designer and developer of plastic packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.

The transaction will enable Weener to expand its footprint in Latin America and strengthen its product portfolio.
