US-based child-resistant packaging solutions manufacturer Dymapak has launched a new 100% kerbside recyclable packaging solution, called ‘Squeeze and Turn Tin’.

The child-resistant consumer packaged goods solution has an airtight seal and metal-on-metal construction, to ensure that the products remain fresh for a long time.

Dymapak said that the proprietary mechanism of Squeeze and Turn Tin has been designed to harmonise with natural characteristics of steel.

The new packaging also features audible and tactile feedback while opening and closing of the tin, allowing customers to confirm that their package is properly sealed.

Apart from being child resistant, Dymapak’s tin packaging can also be used by elderly or arthritic consumers, who otherwise may have difficulty in opening other all-metal child-resistant packaging.

Dymapak CEO Ross Kirsh said: “At Dymapak, we are committed to continually evolving to meet customers’ needs, while keeping products secure and the environmental impact in mind.

“The Squeeze and Turn Tin prioritises high-quality, easy-to-use packaging solutions that reduce the sizable and growing waste problem we see from plastic closures.”

The tin pack has a 100% kerbside recyclable design, which supports both sustainability and circularity of packaging.

According to Dymapak, this new packaging is capable of replacing billions of plastic child-resistant closures that end up in landfills every year.

The company has now submitted the tin for child-resistant testing.

It will be assessed as per the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards and protocol to adhere to the needs of a Poison Prevention Package, as mentioned under CPSC 16 CFR 1700.

Dymapak is also providing its new tin pack to New York’s cannabis-based wellness company Ohho.

Ohho CEO James Stephenson said: “Our customers have long been asking for a package that is easier to open, and we’ve been waiting for an option that also maintains product freshness, prevents degradation and complies with all safety regulations.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Dymapak as they create more and more innovative packaging options.”
