Evergreen Packaging has expanded its Sentinel line of fibre-based products with the launch of Sentinel Barrier Cupstock, a new and sustainable alternative to existing foil-lined paper cups and polypropylene cups.
Potential end uses for the retail packaging include barrier cups to hold cereal, cookies and candies.
Evergreen Packaging paperboard sales vice-president Chris Johns said: “As demand for sustainable packaging continues to rise, we’re committed to innovating our product lines to introduce new, cost-effective options to the food service and retail packaging industries.
“Our new Sentinel Barrier Cupstock leverages our deep barrier technology expertise to provide customers with a high-performance, sustainable packaging option for the retail food cup market.”
Sentinel Barrier Cupstock is primarily composed of paper procured from forests where responsible forestry practices are used.
In the manufacturing process, it utilises around 50% biomass, a source of renewable energy.
