Earlier in his career, Mokaddem held executive positions at Rabobank and Macquarie Capital, where he provided advisory services to Fortune 500 companies in the paper, packaging and forest products industries.

He has also served in senior roles at Sonoco Products Company, Shell and Lehman Brothers.

Genera CEO Ben Mascarello added: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Asem to the Genera leadership team! His knowledge of the moulded fibre industry will be extremely valuable to the business as we continue to grow the business.

“His experience and relationships in the finance community will also help us navigate the next phase of Genera’s development.”

Genera, headquartered in Vonore, Tennessee, operates as a vertically integrated producer of plant-based moulded fibre.

The company works with local farmers to cultivate regenerative grasses that are converted into commercially compostable foodservice and consumer packaging, following what it describes as a circular “farm-to-compost” model.

In 2025, Genera completed a $340m expansion of its manufacturing site in Vonore.
