The programme is currently being implemented by Canna Cabana at its five existing stores in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, and Whitecourt, Alberta.

High Tide founder, president and CEO Raj Grover said: “We heard from our customers, loud and clear, that they weren’t happy when it came to the excess amount of packaging that is required for cannabis products.

“Although we have no control over the packaging of cannabis products, we decided that the least we could do was to help collect and recycle it for customers.”

Customers can drop all packaging materials featuring Health Canada THC symbol at any Canna Cabana store, which will be sent by the company to a qualified recycling services provider.

The materials will then be reused, upcycled or recycled into a range of affordable, sustainable consumer products and industrial applications.

High Tide is also encouraging customers to reduce waste by participating in available recycling programmes.
