British packaging manufacturer inspirepac will open a new production plant in Markham Vale, north Derbyshire, in a move to expand its production capacity.

The new facility, which is spread over an area of around 100,000ft², will see an investment of around £6m, which will be used to install advanced high-quality post-print (HQPP) and digital machinery at the production site.

Expected to become operational in mid-2015, the plant will complement inspirepac’s existing production capabilities of retail-ready packaging.

inspirepac CEO Chris Marples said: "Markham Vale will be a state-of-the-art production site with leading-edge print capability, but will have a 6,000-pallet distribution hub delivering improved supply chain efficiencies within the entire business.

Board24, inspirepac’s sister company, is also planning to invest £9m in an additional corrugator at its Preston site.
