Italy-based packaging company Isap has introduced a new line of packaging made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) for food products.

The new range, marketed as Satispack, makes use of second-life food-contact plastic and reduces the impact on the environment, according to the company.

In the manufacturing process, the base and the lid are made separately with sheets of differing density and colour, prior to being assembled using a joining and ultrasound system.

The technique allows weight reduction of the lid by 25%, which also uses less prime, virgin raw material when combined with a high percentage of R-PET.
