The Klöckner Pentaplast (kp) Pharmaceutical Film Division has opened a new kp i.centre in Charlottesville, Virginia, US.

Located in the University of Virginia Research Park Emerging Technology Centre, the kp i.centre will provide expanded BlisterPro® XCEL suite of consulting, design, stability and prototyping services.

This will help pharmaceutical customers from across the globe to bring products to market more quickly and economically.

"We see our customers' competitive landscape changing."

The centre houses collaboration rooms, customer offices, onsite tooling and blistering for global pharmaceutical packaging professionals, including those in operations, marketing, and procurement, for both branded and generic products.

Klöckner Pentaplast has also expanded and rebranded BlisterPro services, now BlisterPro XCEL services.

With the extended services, kp is said to be the only global film supplier to provide accelerated pharmaceutical product stability profiling through FreeThink Technology's ASAP prime shelf-life modeling software and ASAP laboratory studies.

This will provide customers with a combination of product and packaging optimisation benefits.

Klöckner Pentaplast chief technology officer Marc Setzen said: "We see our customers' competitive landscape changing. Speed-to-market, product safety and cost control are essential factors in them growing profitably around the globe.

"BlisterPro XCEL and the kp i.centre change kp's positioning from traditional material supplier to value-added solutions provider. We can now truly make a difference in our customers' total cost position and help them bring better products to market faster."
