Dutch food company Lazy Foods has selected RPC Bebo Deventer’s multilayer thermoformed pot to extend the shelf life of its preservative-free dips range.

A combination of the thermoformed pot with high-pressure processing (HPP) treatment will allow the company’s products to last longer.

Lazy Foods’ product offering includes guacamole, hummus and tomato salsa, which, according to the company, are made from natural ingredients.

RPC has also offered an RO 115 cup that is used to fill the product range of Lazy Foods and ensures a shelf life of at least 30 to 40 days.

The cup features a multilayer polypropylene structure that will enable the prevention of oxygen ingress and help maintain product freshness.

Under the HPP treatment, the cups are placed in a container and go through a 6,000 bar water pressure that eliminates harmful bacteria and mould.

The company said that the cups are available in three sizes, 175cc, 250cc and 500cc.

While designing the cup, RPC also focused on ensuring effective branding and on-shelf appeal by using a colourful outer sleeve.

Last month, RPC developed a 250ml, 115mm-diameter polypropylene pot that comes with a multi-coloured design printed in six colours for dairy company Alsace Lait.

RPC Bebo is a subsidiary of RPC Group, which designs plastic products for packaging and non-packaging markets.
