Lecta, a Spanish producer of speciality papers for labels and flexible packaging, has received the flustix “Less Plastics Product” certification for its EraCup Natural board, a material used in food service packaging.
The company said the certification verifies that the board’s composition is at least 99.25% plastic-free, which represents the “highest” level awarded under the European standard.

EraCup Natural is a solid bleached board (SBB) made from pulp obtained from responsibly managed and certified forests.
According to the company, it has a smooth, natural surface suitable for flexographic and offset printing, with an inner layer coated with an aqueous dispersion, enhancing heat-sealing resistance.
The flustix label measures the plastic content in materials and products according to international standards and traceability requirements.

Besides, EraCup Natural has also been approved by DIN CERTCO for industrial and home compostability.
It has received recyclability Level A under Aticelca 501/19 and is compatible with conventional paper recycling systems.
The company stated that this achievement represents further progress in its work to limit the use of non-renewable materials as well as support circular, lower-impact solutions.
Lecta specialities commercial director Armin Van Overbeek said: “This accreditation confirms EraCup Natural as a benchmark board for food service applications, designed to deliver outstanding converting performance and respond effectively to new market demands.
“It reflects our ongoing commitment to developing safe, regulation-compliant, and highly recyclable solutions that enable converters and brand owners to advance their sustainability goals and strengthen brand differentiation.”
In July 2025, Lecta added new paperboard grades to its EraCup range, designed to address the sustainability needs of disposable packaging in the foodservice industry.
The updated EraCup lineup includes EraCup Natural, EraCup 1PE 10, EraCup 1PE 15, and EraBase, for use in hot and cold drink cups, along with food containers and boxes.
