UK-based plastic packaging manufacturer Linpac has announced plans to invest €10m to increase production output at its Noyal Pontivy plant in France.

Roland Castellanos – Linpac vice president for activities in France, Spain and China – said the company will use the funds to increase production of its multilayered barrier films used for foodstuffs, including meat and butter.

The capacity for stretch film will be raised by about 1,500t a year, an increase of 30%, and is set to be in operation during 2014.

The group will also cut down the production of PVC films and its derivative products.

The firm operates Linpac Packaging Pontivy in the Bretagne region and Linpac Packaging Dalidet in Ballée, in France. Together the plants generate sales of around €200m.
