Pro Mach unit Matrix Packaging Machinery will introduce new vertical-form fill seal solution and fill-and-seal, pre-made pouch machine at United Fresh 2015 in Chicago, US, which will be held from 8 to 10 June.
The company has integrated new ultrasonic sealing option to its Mercury HS packaging machine, which provides vertical-form-fill-seal speeds of up to 140 bags a minute.
Ultrasonic welding is said to apply precise ultra-high-speed vibrations along a seam and friction on the internal layers of a bag produces heat that melts and bonds the innermost layers.
According to the company, ultrasonic vibration heats the seam from the inside out and less energy is consumed with ultrasonic than conventional sealing for lower operating costs.
Ultrasonic welding is suitable for produce and dairy products such as cheeses, snacks, frozen foods, candy, and other heat sensitive items.
The Mercury HS forms, fills and seals bags with widths ranging from 1.75in to 11in and lengths from 2.5in to 15in. It features stainless-steel construction, colour touchscreen operator panel, an English or Spanish operator interface and an Allen Bradley MicroLogix PLC control system.
The company will also showcase the new Toyo Jidoki TT-8D-N pre-made pouch fill and seal machine, which has been designed for stand-up, flat bottom and fifth-panel style bags.
It integrates Toyo Jidoki's technology with flexibility for shaped pouches and is rated at up to 55 flat, standup and press-to-close pouches a minute.
The machine forms pouch sizes ranging from 4.7in to 10.2in wide to 5.1in to 15.7in long, and its options and accessories comprise date printer, air squeeze device, nitrogen gas flush, liquid-filling systems and zip open or close device.
Toyo Jidoki TT-8D-N also features seal area cleaning, double pouch detection, pouch opening detection device, pouch pick-up position detection, product in seal detection, product feeding hopper and product discharge conveyor.
