Nestlé Waters has unveiled a £35m investment plan to open a lightweight water bottling plant and warehousing facility in Buxton, UK.

The company said the unit will produce the lightest water bottles for its Buxton Natural Mineral Water and Nestlé Pure Life brands, using an average of 25% less PET plastic across all still formats.

The fully recycable bottles will launch across Buxton Natural Mineral Water of 25cl, 50cl, 75cl and 1l packs, as well as Nestlé Pure Life of 33cl and 50cl packs.

According to the company, the bottles will have a shorter neck and a sturdy shape for easy grip.

The company plans to start production in spring 2012.
