Cardia

Australian renewable packaging products manufacturer Cardia Bioplastics has received approval for its biohybrid bags as an eco-friendly product from the Maldives Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The approval enables the company to complete the initial delivery of 60,000 large waste management bags to Maldives-based packaging products provider Truly Green. Cardia is expected to deliver over one million biohybrid bags to Truly Green in the next 12 months.

The bags will be used throughout Maldives resorts and by the expansive tourism sector.

According to Cardia, the biohybrid bags have undergone extensive product trials to receive Maldives EPA approval as environmentally preferred products. They are made with renewable materials that contain no heavy metals, which is helpful in reducing the carbon footprint.

Cardia managing director Frank Glatz said: "The process of approval involved trials that endorsed our product’s performance and environmental benefits."

Having established a supply chain into the Maldives, Cardia plans to further expand into the nation in partnership with Truly Green.
