US-based containers and closures provider Berlin Packaging is planning to open a new, integrated warehouse and assembly facility at Clinton Commerce Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The new facility will triple the size of Berlin Packaging’s Pittsburgh operations, as well as increase the capacity of the company’s Qorpak and dangerous goods material packaging divisions.

To be spread across an area of around 300,000ft², the new facility will feature warehouse, kitting and assembly and office spaces.

Once completed, Berlin Packaging will transfer its divisions to the new facility in phases, with plans to move in the dangerous goods operations by 2017.

The company currently provides laboratory packaging, consumables and equipment to companies located worldwide.

Berlin Packaging’s Qorpak division serves the laboratory, research and testing professionals, while its dangerous goods segment provides packaging systems for shipping hazardous and temperature-sensitive materials.

Both divisions were purchased by Berlin Packaging in 2010 as part of its All-Pak aqcuisition.

Last month, Berlin Packaging expanded its warehousing and inventory management facility located in Kansas City, Missouri, US.

As part of the expansion, the company opened a new 55,000ft² warehouse in Riverside, Missouri.
