Coveris, a UK-based packaging and engineered coatings manufacturer, has developed a new hybrid packaging solution, Grab Box, for the food-to-go industry.

A hybrid of sustainable board and film materials, Grab Box is suitable for packing premium and top-tier products.

The new packaging was launched by retailer Tesco last month for its ‘Finest’ range of sandwiches, and is said to offer improved protection.

Featuring three windows, Grab Box is lined with high-clarity, low-gauge polypropylene film and boasts enhanced anti-fog properties.

Available in flat and pop-up box format, the solution offers an increased printable area on kraft or plain board and can be printed on one or both sides with a combined total of nine colours.

The easy-to-open solution also provides space for additional communication or branding to appear on the inside of the box.

“Grab Box delivers this with fantastic on-shelf presentation and opportunities for brands and retailers to differentiate their products, combined with efficient processing.”

Tesco, along with food manufacturers Bakkavor, Bradgate Bakery and Solway Foods, have also used Grab Box to pack its other range of ‘Finest’ products.

The packaging is set to be completed by the end of this month.

Recently, Coveris unveiled its plan to invest £3m at its cartonboard division, situated in three different sites in Cambridgeshire, UK.
