Eco packaging solutions and labels provider Planglow has developed a new Gastro Nutri Label and revamped designs of a further six pre-existing label designs to provide allergen information.

The labels will be compliant with the EU’s new Food Information Regulation (FIR), which will come into effect in December.

The new law will require all food providers to mention information of 14 potential allergens, namely gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soy beans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, lupin and molluscs, within each and every product.

"We offer dozens of sheet and roll labels in a huge variety of designs and sizes, including labels that match our four branded collections of eco packaging."

As reported in PackagingEurope, products that are not made fresh on-site are considered to be a Full Labeller, which will require additional information to be displayed on-pack, including full ingredients, a nutritional box and voluntary front-of-pack reference intake.

This, however, is not possible for standard labels to accommodate.

Planglow marketing director Rachael Sawtell said: "We offer dozens of sheet and roll labels in a huge variety of designs and sizes, including labels that match our four branded collections of eco packaging.

"Due to changes in the law however, even the largest of our labels do not have the space Full Labellers require.

"So we have developed seven labels for our customers to ensure we continue to offer the best possible labelling solutions for everyone."
