JUDO FOOD

Barcode printing, labelling and EPC/RFID technology provider Sato has launched two new printing and labelling products for the food industry; TH2 All in Box printer and JUDO FOOD handheld labeller.

Beginning in December, a new food traceability law will come into effect, which will require manufacturers across Europe to notify consumers about the origin of fresh meat, fruits and vegetables, as well as the presence of allergens and glutens.

The manufacturers must also specify if a product has been defrosted previously and apply a minimal size of print font to allow for easier reading.

TH2 All in Box printer and JUDO FOOD handheld labeller are both designed to meet the new food law requirements.

The portable and standalone TH2 printer is used to print labels for ingredient preparation in the kitchen, as well as final product labels detailing ingredients, packaging date, use-by date, price and barcode. This is embedded with its own programmes and database that can be altered easily at any time, by increasing efficiency and food safety.

"We’re delighted to be offering these two new solutions to our customers in the food industry."

Sato claims that JUDO FOOD handheld labeller is available with 13 pre-designed texts, such as ‘cooked on’, ‘defrosted on’, ‘storage temperature’ and ‘best before’.
