Smurfit Kappa UK, a subsidiary of paper-based packaging provider Smurfit Kappa Group, has agreed to acquire Saxon Packaging for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered in Lowestoft, Norfolk, UK, Saxon Packaging currently converts board into corrugated boxes and fitments.

With recent investments in new technology machinery, the company mainly serves customers in Suffolk, East Anglia and home counties in the UK.

In January, Smurfit Kappa acquired two Brazilian integrated paper-based packaging businesses, Industria de Embalagens Santana (INPA) and Paema Embalagens, for a total consideration of around €186m.

The combined operations of INPA and Paema have three recycled containerboard mills with a total capacity of 210,000t and four corrugated facilities, catering to the Northeast of Brazil.
